Terms of Service
Effective June 25, 2026 · Version 2
Welcome to Roohbrew. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Roohbrew Inc., a Delaware corporation operating from California (“Roohbrew,” “we,” “us”). They cover your use of our website, our app, and the in-person gatherings that people host and attend through them (together, the “Service”). Our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. Please read them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who can use Roohbrew
You must be at least 18 years old to use Roohbrew. Accounts are for adults only. At this stage of Roohbrew, minors are not permitted at events, and you agree not to bring a person under 18 to any Roohbrew event. We may change this policy in the future and will update these Terms if we do.
You agree to give us accurate information when you sign up and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
2. What Roohbrew is, and what it isn’t
Roohbrew is a place where independent hosts create small, in-person gatherings and where people who want to attend can find them. We are not a party to any gathering. We want to be clear about what that means in practice, because it shapes everything else in these Terms.
Hosts are independent. Each event is created and run by an independent host, in their own capacity, using a space they choose. Hosts are not our employees, agents, contractors, partners, or joint venturers, and they do not provide services or labor to us. We do not direct how a host runs an event.
We do not vet people. We do not run background checks. We do not verify the identity, statements, or qualifications of any host or attendee, and we make no representation about the character, conduct, or compatibility of anyone you might meet through Roohbrew. Anyone who can see an event may commit a contribution, RSVP, and attend.
Showing you an event is not an endorsement. We use an automated matching system to decide which events appear to which people. The system uses information described in our Privacy Policy — including things like location, interests, and patterns of activity — to surface events you may want to attend. The matching is automated and imperfect. Showing you an event is not our endorsement of the event, the host, or any attendee; it is not a safety review; and it is not a representation about who else will attend or how many people will show up. Matching exists only to help people find gatherings they might enjoy. We do not guarantee that outcome, or any other outcome.
If we suggest things to a host, the host decides. We may offer hosts optional, automatically generated suggestions for their event, including suggestions for what attendees might contribute. These are conveniences only. The host reviews, edits, and chooses what to publish, and by publishing the event the host adopts it as their own. We do not verify, endorse, or take responsibility for those suggestions or for the host’s final event.
We do not promise belonging. Roohbrew is built around contribution and connection, but we do not promise, guarantee, or warrant any social outcome. Bringing or making a contribution does not entitle you to friendship, belonging, a particular experience, or any other result. What happens at a gathering depends on the people present and is outside our control.
3. What we do and do not monitor
We do not pre-screen events, hosts, attendees, or user content, and we are under no obligation to monitor them. We may, but are not required to, review events or content, and we may remove anything or suspend any account at our discretion. We rely on people to report behavior or content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines. You acknowledge that the absence of monitoring or screening is a condition of using a thin connective platform, and you accept that condition.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you create and post on Roohbrew, including event descriptions, photographs, and the short post-event notes between participants that we call Roohbrew Letters. By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, perpetual, and irrevocable license to host, store, display, reproduce, adapt, and use that content to operate, promote, and market the Service, including on our website, our app, and our marketing channels.
When your content includes or describes another person — for example, a Roohbrew Letter you write about someone you met, or a photograph that shows other attendees — you represent that you have the right to post it and to grant the license above. You are responsible for the content you post. We do not pre-screen user content.
5. Payments
During this early phase of Roohbrew, payment for events may be handled in different ways, including directly between hosts and attendees off-platform, or through the Service once payment functionality is enabled. When you pay for an event, the terms that govern that payment — including the price, what it covers, the host’s share, our share, and refund or cancellation terms — will be shown to you at the time of the transaction, and those displayed terms apply alongside these Terms.
When we enable in-app payments, we will use a third-party payment processor to handle the transaction and to divide the payment between the host and Roohbrew. We do not take custody of host funds, and we do not store your full payment-card details; those are handled by the processor under its own terms. [PAYMENTS PLACEHOLDER — fill before publishing once Stripe Connect flow, refund ladder, and platform-cut model are settled.]
6. How you agree to behave
You agree not to use Roohbrew to harass, threaten, defraud, or harm others; to discriminate against or incite hatred toward others; to post unlawful, infringing, or knowingly false content; to solicit or harm minors; to scrape or extract data; or to interfere with the operation of the Service. You agree not to misrepresent your identity or age, not to use another person’s account, and not to create an account after being removed except with our written permission. Our Community Guidelines describe in plain language how we expect people to behave on Roohbrew and at gatherings; they are part of these Terms.
7. Important acknowledgments about attending events
Because Roohbrew events are real-world gatherings that we do not run or supervise, the following acknowledgments are central to your use of the Service. You will also be asked to confirm these when you RSVP to an event.
7.1 Assumption of risk
Roohbrew events are real-world gatherings created and run by independent hosts, in a variety of settings — including private homes, public spaces such as parks, commercial venues such as cafes and restaurants, and community spaces such as banquet halls or rented rooms — and often involving hands-on activities and food or drink brought or made by the people present. You understand that attending carries inherent risks — including the risk of illness, allergic reaction, personal injury, property damage, emotional distress, harm caused by other people, harm caused by pets present at an event, and, in the most serious cases, death — and that these risks cannot be fully described in advance because each host designs their own event. You voluntarily assume all such risks.
7.2 Your choices, your responsibility
Before you RSVP, you can see the event description and the list of proposed contributions. You are free not to attend any event whose activities, food, setting, pets, or other attendees you are not comfortable with. If a contribution or detail is added after you RSVP, you are not required to participate in that specific contribution at the event itself. What you eat, drink, touch, make, or do at an event — and how close you choose to be to any activity, item, person, or animal — is your own decision and your own responsibility, just as it would be at any gathering among friends.
The makeup of an event — who has RSVP’d, what contributions are committed — may change up to the day of the event. The decision to attend or not attend in light of who is coming is yours. Refunds, where they apply, are governed by the refund and cancellation terms shown to you when you paid for the event, not by this section.
7.3 Contributions, food, and allergens
Contributions are brought or made by hosts and attendees, not by Roohbrew. We do not provide, inspect, prepare, test, or approve any food, drink, ingredient, material, or other item brought to or made at an event, and we do not verify whether any contribution is safe, accurately described, or free of allergens. The product may surface optional prompts to hosts about contributions — for example, suggesting hosts ask contributors to label allergens — but any such prompt is the host’s to use or remove, and Roohbrew does not take responsibility for whether or how a host uses it. If you bring or make a contribution, you are solely responsible for it, including for disclosing known allergens and for its safety and legality. If you consume or use any contribution provided by someone else, you do so at your own risk and by your own choice.
7.4 Alcohol and other substances
We do not provide, sell, serve, supervise, or manage alcohol or any other substance at any event, and we do not control what hosts or attendees bring or consume. We do not condone the provision of alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age or to any intoxicated person. If alcohol or any other substance is present at an event, that is a matter solely between the people there, and anything that happens as a result is outside our control and our responsibility.
Event contribution lists are created by hosts and attendees, not by Roohbrew. Roohbrew does not review or screen contribution lists for alcohol, substances, or any other content. The presence of any item on a contribution list — including alcohol — is not our endorsement, approval, or supervision of that item.
7.5 Pets and animals
Some events may be indicated as open to pets; if an event is not so indicated, you should not bring an animal. If you bring an animal to an event, you are solely responsible for it and for any harm it causes to any person, animal, or property, and you agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from your animal. You also acknowledge that we do not ensure the safety of any animal at an event, and that bringing an animal is at your own risk.
When a host indicates an event as open to pets, the host represents that pets are permitted at the chosen venue and accepts responsibility for that choice. Roohbrew provides only the indicator feature and has no role in or responsibility for a host’s decision to use it.
7.6 Venues
Events take place in a variety of settings — including private homes, public spaces such as parks, commercial venues such as cafes and restaurants, and community spaces such as banquet halls or rented rooms. You acknowledge that any such space has not been inspected or approved by us and is controlled by the host or the venue, not by us. You enter and remain in any such space at your own risk, and you agree to treat the host’s or venue’s space and property with care.
The venue is the host’s choice, and any arrangement between the host and the venue (such as permission to use the space, table or room reservations, or vendor relationships) is between them. If the venue experience goes wrong for reasons related to the venue itself or the host’s choice of it — for example, the venue declines to host the event, ends the event early, or places conditions on what can happen there — that is between you and the host, not Roohbrew.
7.7 Other attendees
You are solely responsible for your interactions with hosts and other attendees. We have no obligation to mediate, and we are not responsible for, disputes or conduct between users. We are also not responsible for interactions, conduct, or communications between users that occur outside of Roohbrew, including communications and interactions that begin at an event and continue elsewhere. You agree to follow our Community Guidelines and to behave lawfully and respectfully at events.
7.8 Photography and recording at events
Other participants may photograph or record at Roohbrew events. By attending, you acknowledge that this is part of how these gatherings often work. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, you are responsible for making that known to the people present, and any agreement to honor that wish is between you and them. Roohbrew is not responsible for what other participants do with photographs or recordings they take, including how they share such content outside of Roohbrew.
7.9 Roohbrew Letters and other content you post
When you post content to Roohbrew — including photographs, event descriptions, and Roohbrew Letters, which are the short post-event notes between participants — the content license described in Section 4 applies, including for marketing. You are responsible for the content you post, and you represent that you have the right to post content that involves other people.
8. Release of claims, host’s representations, and waiver of California Civil Code section 1542
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you — on your own behalf and on behalf of your heirs, successors, and assigns — release Roohbrew, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all claims, demands, losses, damages, and causes of action of any kind — including for personal injury, illness, emotional distress, death, and property damage — arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your attendance at or participation in any event, the contributions or conduct of any host or attendee, or the condition of any space. This release does not apply to liability that cannot be released under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.
If you are hosting an event, you represent that you have the right to use the space where your event is held, that you are responsible for obtaining any permission, license, or permit that the space or the gathering requires under applicable local rules, and that you will comply with the law in running your event. Roohbrew does not verify, advise on, or take responsibility for whether a host has obtained any permission, license, or permit needed for a particular event or venue.
If you are a California resident, you expressly waive California Civil Code section 1542, which reads:
“A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.”
You understand that this release therefore extends to claims that you do not currently know or suspect to exist in your favor at the time you agreed to these Terms, and that this is a knowing and voluntary waiver. You will also be asked to confirm this release when you RSVP to an event.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND EVERY EVENT FOUND THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROOHBREW DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY EVENT, HOST, ATTENDEE, OR CONTRIBUTION WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS OR BE SAFE.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROOHBREW AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR YOUR ATTENDANCE AT OR HOSTING OF ANY EVENT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED WHICHEVER IS HIGHER: THE AMOUNT YOU PAID ROOHBREW IN THE SIX (6) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Roohbrew and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, your attendance at or hosting of any event, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or any right of another.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that is not otherwise resolved will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
13. Termination and changes
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may update these Terms as Roohbrew evolves. We will update the effective date at the top of this page each time we revise the Terms. For material changes, we will try to let you know through the Service or by other reasonable means — such as an in-app notification or an email — and continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
